CHRISTMAS CARDS

T’was the night before Friday
And all round the table
Sat the usual Card group
At least those who were able

Their pigs were all stuffed
With money they’d won
Except for St. Chas
His pig it had none

His Scotch glass was empty
He looked quite a wreck
When he suddenly exclaimed
”I want a new deck”

He took to shuffling
His stack getting shorter
”Enough of this crap”
”Let’s ante a quarter

He dealt with great passion
A fire in his eye
His hole cards were... a three and a five
He bet fifty cents

And then came the flop
He knew in an instant
Can’t sing for shit
Except for the chorus

I guess we’ll keep him
Ain’t sure why
He wasn’t on top
”Another fifty”... he said with a dare

”Raise a dollar said Ron
And I have two pair
He folded his cards
For he knew his plight

Then pitifully said
”Let’s call it a night”
I heard the last words
As I drove out of sight......

”IF I HAD ONLY CAUGHT
A TEN AND AN EIGHT
I WOULD HAVE MADE
MY JACK HIGH STRAIGHT”
